The Keys to Succeed on Pharmacy Tech Scholarship Applications
We mentioned the popularity of scholarships and grants due to their working as essentially free funding for a college student’s education. With that popularity, however, comes competition for awards among applicants.
That’s why it’s critical that you submit the very best application and supporting materials possible. We’ve outlined below five tips you can follow to help you do just that.
Key #1: Tailor Your Materials
Every pharm tech scholarship program is different, so if you want your application to stand out, take the time to adapt your materials for the unique purposes and requirements of each one. This not only shows initiative, but it also demonstrates your potential job versatility.
Key #2: Submit Early When Possible
It can be a distinct advantage to submit your scholarship application and materials as early as you can. Doing so offers you the chance to make an important first impression on the scholarship selection committee.
Just be sure you don’t sacrifice the completeness of your application for promptness.
Key #3: Apply Far and Wide
Scholarships are competitive, and you’ll likely lose more than you land. So, consider taking the shotgun approach and applying to as many as possible.
Just be sure you focus on contests that play to your strengths and specific qualifications and not waste your time applying to those for which you don’t stand a good chance of winning.
Key #4: Contact Your References in Advance
If your scholarship asks for recommendation letters, be sure to contact your letter writers well in advance of the submittal deadline to give them time to compose the best letters possible. And check in with them to make sure they finish their letters and get them in on time.
Key #5: Proofread Applications
With the exception of a missed deadline, nothing can sink your chances of winning a scholarship award quicker than an error-filled application. So always carefully proofread your application and submittal materials several times before sending them in.
It’s also a good idea to have someone you trust (like a professor or English major friend) review your application as well.
